Financial Firm

Our financial client approached us to design their new private office located in the Seagram Building at 375 Park Avenue in Midtown Manhattan. Among their goals for the new space was to reference and respect the heritage of the iconic Seagram Building while defining a modern office space that caters to their operation.

The strong geometric architecture of the building heavily influenced our design concept. The original light box ceiling grid designed by Mies van der Rohe informed much of the space’s geometry including custom tables, shelving, and rugs. A sophisticated and calm aesthetic encompasses both the architecture and furniture palettes. Dark wood veneer accents the lounge and conference spaces providing a contrast to the lighter oak veneer in the perimeter offices. Rich mossy greens, warm cognac leathers, and navy blues further define the polished aesthetic.

The office layout is divided into two wings – a client-facing wing and an employee wing. The elevator bank incorporates varying levels of glass transparency to help guide visitors toward the client-facing wing which includes a 16-person conference room, a large square boardroom with a custom square table, and a breakout room for entertaining guests. Large telescoping doors connect the breakout room to the boardroom and help to unify the space. The employee wing opens to a living room and open pantry as opposed to a traditional reception area. A dedicated bar niche within the lounge caters to company happy hours, while a library room is meant to serve as a lounge for more casual meetings.
