Sora at Spring Quarter is a new 29-story modernist, luxury residential component of Portman Holding’s Spring Quarter, a mixed-use community sited in midtown Atlanta and centered around the historic HM Patterson Home and Gardens.

Often referred to as a “city within a forest,” the selection of colors and textures used in the interiors harkens to Atlanta’s own vast and brilliant tree canopy. Counter to the trend toward an industrial feel, the design team opted for warmth and comfort in the lobby, welcoming nature into the building. The double-height space incorporates a stone reception desk and calming oak furniture on the main and mezzanine levels.

Sora incorporates the work of local artists and makers: Christina Kwan, whose large-scale murals appear in the Mezzanine Lounge, are inspired by the natural world; and B10 Union, wood workers whose fabricated furniture appears throughout the building, most notably a table with tree trunk-like legs.

The residential tower contains 370 units ranging from studios to three bedrooms. An exclusive element in the bedroom is a custom nook that offers an unobtrusive place for work or study, optimizing the space. The one-bedroom model apartment exemplifies the building’s overall design aesthetic and has already been sold, affirming the organic, yet timeless design.

The 10^th floor roof terrace boasts a pool and cabanas, while the 29^th floor combines entertaining and fitness with a dedicated party room, wine room, pool room, and garden room. Another standout property feature: a double-height climbing wall that overlooks an outdoor fitness area, which is sure to appeal to climbing enthusiasts of all ages and abilities.
