The Davis Companies
A key to the success of The Davis Companies, a Boston-based investment firm, is “creating value through real estate.” Designers applied this credo in re-envisioning the space and offering choice to employees. Keeping its prized downtown locale at 125 High Street, the solution was to completely overhaul and re-design the existing footprint to accommodate increased staff and incorporate new branding. This multi-phased approach allowed the firm to not only work smarter, but also resulted in maximizing space and creating new areas for working and gathering while integrating a fresh but business-appropriate look.
At the heart of the office, the boardroom’s former location, is the celebrated pantry lounge. Here, workers can spend downtime on comfortable banquettes and enjoy beer or cold brew coffee on tap or choose as a locale for casual meetings or meals. A custom island is outfitted with stools and storage for happy hour. The boardroom, now situated across from reception, with sliding glass doors creates an enfilade space when doors are open, ideal for gatherings or entertaining. Leather-upholstered bench seating and understated contemporary art add flair to this clean-lined interior.
Davis’s re-design was further inspired by a decision from management to not only maximize spaces for employees, but also to democratize views. This was achieved by removing several private offices and designating spaces with premium vistas as common areas. This elevated workplace gives leadership and staff both efficiency and modernity, affirming the interior’s suitability for current times as well as the future.
